Possible Causes
Flat-spotted drum rollers, Seized roller bearings, Worn rear drum bearing, Loose drum baffles
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the dryer before disassembly. Wear gloves to avoid cuts from sharp metal edges.
- Check for loose items: First inspect the drum interior for coins, buttons, or other objects stuck in the drum baffles or filter housing and remove them.
- Access drum supports: Remove the top and front panel to lift the drum out (or partially out) depending on design. Locate the drum support rollers and rear bearing.
- Inspect rollers: Spin each roller by hand. Replace any that are noisy, wobbly, or have flat spots. It is often best to replace rollers as a set.
- Check rear bearing: If fitted, inspect the rear drum bearing and support. Replace if worn, dry, or excessively loose.
- Secure baffles: Tighten screws securing the internal drum baffles. Replace cracked baffles.
- Reassemble and test: Refit the drum and belt, reassemble the cabinet, and run a test cycle to confirm noise reduction.
