Possible Causes
Failed drive motor, Open motor thermal protector, Faulty motor capacitor (on capacitor-start models), Loose or burnt motor wiring at main control PCB
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect the dryer from mains power before removing panels or touching internal wiring.
- Check for drum obstruction: Open the door and try to rotate the drum by hand. It should turn smoothly with moderate resistance. If it is jammed, inspect for foreign objects between drum and front felt or rear seal and remove them.
- Access the motor: Remove the top cover and rear panel (or side panel, depending on model). Locate the drive motor at the base of the dryer near the belt pulley.
- Inspect wiring: Check the motor connector and wiring harness for loose plugs, burnt terminals, or damaged insulation. Reseat connectors firmly.
- Test motor capacitor: If your Gram dryer uses a start/run capacitor mounted near the motor, disconnect it (after discharging) and test with a capacitance meter. Replace the capacitor if it is out of specification or bulged/leaking.
- Check motor thermal protector: Many motors have an internal thermal cut-out. If the motor is extremely hot, allow it to cool for 30–60 minutes and try again. Repeated trips indicate a failing motor or blocked airflow.
- Replace motor if necessary: If the motor hums but does not start, or tests open on its windings, replace the drive motor assembly. Transfer the pulley and wiring as per the service manual.
- Persistent E02: If a known-good motor and capacitor are installed and wiring is sound, the main control PCB motor relay or triac may be defective and should be diagnosed and replaced by a technician.
