Possible Causes

Contaminated moisture sensor bars, Broken or disconnected moisture sensor wiring, Faulty moisture sensor module (if separate), Defective main control PCB sensor input

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Disconnect power before accessing internal wiring. Cleaning the sensor bars can be done with power off and door open.

  • Clean moisture sensor bars: Locate the two metal strips inside the drum, usually near the lint filter opening. Using a soft cloth and a bit of white vinegar or mild detergent, scrub the bars to remove fabric softener residue and lint. Rinse with a damp cloth and dry.
  • Avoid dryer sheets on sensor: Excessive use of dryer sheets can coat the bars. Reduce use or switch to liquid softener to prevent future issues.
  • Inspect sensor wiring: Remove the top and front panel to access the backside of the sensor bars. Check that the small wires are firmly attached and not broken. Reseat the connector where the sensor harness plugs into the main control PCB.
  • Test sensor continuity: With the dryer unplugged, use a multimeter to check continuity between the sensor terminals when you bridge the bars with a damp cloth. If there is no change in resistance, the sensor assembly may be faulty and should be replaced.
  • Persistent E04: If cleaning and wiring checks do not resolve the error, the sensor input circuit on the main control PCB may be defective. Board diagnosis and replacement is recommended by a professional.
