Possible Causes
Broken or slipped drive belt, Worn or seized drum support rollers, Faulty motor tachometer sensor, Loose drum pulley or idler pulley failure
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect the dryer from mains power before opening any panels. Sharp edges may be present inside the cabinet.
- Check drum movement: Open the door and rotate the drum by hand. If it spins freely with little resistance, the belt may be broken. If it is very stiff or grinds, the drum rollers or bearings may be seized.
- Inspect drive belt: Remove the top cover and front panel to access the drum. Look for a broken or off-track belt. If the belt is snapped or heavily cracked, replace it with the correct Gram belt for your model.
- Examine idler pulley and rollers: With the belt removed, spin the idler pulley and drum support rollers by hand. They should rotate smoothly without noise. Replace any pulley or roller that is noisy, wobbly, or seized.
- Check motor tacho sensor: On some Gram dryers, the motor has a tachometer coil or Hall sensor to monitor speed. Inspect the sensor and wiring at the motor end. Ensure the connector is secure and not damaged. Replace the motor or tacho sensor if readings are out of specification.
- Reassemble and test: Refit the belt around the motor pulley and drum, ensuring correct routing over the idler pulley. Reassemble the cabinet, reconnect power, and run a test cycle. If E06 returns with a correctly tensioned belt and free-spinning drum, the main control PCB may not be reading the tacho signal correctly and may need replacement.
