Possible Causes
Blocked airflow at lint filter or ducts, Failed or stuck-closed cycling thermostat, Faulty NTC temperature sensor, Defective heater relay on main control PCB
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the dryer and allow it to cool completely before inspection. Overheating can cause burns and fire risk.
- Clean all airflow paths: Remove and clean the lint filter, exhaust hose, wall vent, and (for condenser/heat pump models) the condenser unit and heat exchanger filter. Ensure nothing is obstructing the air intake or outlet grilles.
- Inspect cycling thermostat: Access the heater housing and locate the cycling thermostat. Test it for proper operation with a multimeter and, if possible, a heat source (following service manual specs). Replace if it is stuck closed or does not open at the specified temperature.
- Check NTC sensor: Measure the resistance of the NTC sensor at room temperature and compare with Gram specifications. Replace the sensor if readings are out of range or unstable.
- Verify heater control: With the dryer reassembled and under supervision, run a test cycle and monitor whether the heater cycles on and off. If the heater remains on continuously until E08 appears, the heater relay or triac on the main control PCB may be welded closed and the PCB should be replaced.
- Do not bypass safety devices: Never bypass thermostats or thermal fuses to keep the dryer running. This creates a serious fire hazard.
