Possible Causes

Blocked condensate drain hose, Cracked condensate tray, Leaking internal hose connection, Activated base leak float switch

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Unplug the dryer. Water in the base can contact live parts; handle with care.

  • Check for visible leaks: Remove the front kick panel or side panel to inspect the base of the dryer. Look for standing water, wet insulation, or drip marks.
  • Empty and dry base: If water is present, carefully tilt the dryer (with assistance) and drain the water. Use towels or a wet/dry vacuum to dry the base completely.
  • Inspect hoses and tray: Trace the condensate path from the drum to the tray, pump, and tank. Check for loose hose clamps, cracked hoses, or a damaged tray. Replace any leaking components.
  • Clean drain passages: Remove lint and sludge from the drain channels and pump inlet. Ensure water can flow freely to the pump.
  • Reset leak float switch: Many models have a float switch in the base that triggers E14 when water is detected. Once the base is dry and the float moves freely, the error should clear on the next cycle.
  • Persistent E14: If no leaks are found and the base is dry, test the float switch for proper operation. Replace the switch if it is stuck or shorted.
