Possible Causes
Worn or dirty program selector knob contacts, Broken selector shaft, Faulty rotary encoder on control panel PCB, Loose selector wiring harness
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect power before removing the control panel or knob.
- Clean selector knob area: Remove the knob and gently clean around the shaft to remove dust or detergent residue that may affect operation.
- Inspect shaft and detents: Check that the selector shaft is not cracked and that it clicks positively into each position. Replace the knob or selector assembly if worn.
- Access encoder: Remove the control panel fascia to expose the rotary encoder or switch on the PCB. Inspect for cracked solder joints or physical damage.
- Reseat harness: If the selector uses a separate harness, ensure the connector is fully seated on the main control PCB.
- Replace encoder/UI PCB: If the encoder is faulty or soldered to the UI PCB, replace the entire user interface board with the correct Gram part.
