E20
Gram Unbalanced Load / Motor Protection Fault

Dryer shows E20; on some models, this appears when starting a cycle with a very small load.

Possible Causes

Very small or tangled load, Worn drum support components causing imbalance detection, Faulty motor current sensing on PCB, Loose drum baffles causing noise and imbalance

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Disconnect power before opening panels. Basic load checks can be done with the door open and power off.

  • Adjust the load: Open the door and redistribute the laundry. Avoid drying a single heavy item (e.g., one towel); add a few more items to balance the drum.
  • Check drum baffles: Inspect the plastic or metal baffles inside the drum. Tighten any loose screws and replace cracked baffles.
  • Inspect suspension and rollers: If E20 occurs frequently with normal loads, check drum support rollers, rear bearing, and front felt for excessive wear that could cause vibration. Replace worn parts.
  • Motor sensing: If mechanical components are sound, the motor current sensing circuit on the main control PCB may be overly sensitive or faulty, requiring board replacement.
