Possible Causes
Clogged lint filter or condenser, Dirty moisture sensor bars, Restricted internal airflow, Weak heating element on heat pump system
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the dryer before deep cleaning.
Airflow and condenser cleaning:
- Clean the lint filter thoroughly, including washing with warm soapy water to remove fabric softener residue.
- Remove and rinse the condenser/heat exchanger under running water until clean; allow to drain and dry.
- Vacuum lint from accessible ducts and the fan housing.
Moisture sensor cleaning:
- Locate the metal moisture sensor bars inside the drum and scrub them with a non-abrasive pad and vinegar to remove residue.
Run a test load with a moderate amount of laundry. If dry times are still excessive, the heating system or heat pump may be underperforming and should be checked by a technician.
