Possible Causes
Open-circuit heating element, Burnt heater wiring or connector, Faulty heater relay on main control board
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the dryer and verify no power is present before accessing the rear panel.
Heater continuity test:
- Remove the rear panel to expose the heater assembly (on many Neff vented and condenser models the heater is mounted on the rear bulkhead).
- Disconnect the heater terminals. Measure resistance across the heater. Typical values are between 20–60 Ω depending on wattage. An open circuit (OL) indicates a failed element.
- Check for continuity between each heater terminal and chassis ground; any reading other than OL indicates a shorted element that must be replaced.
Inspect wiring and connectors:
- Look for heat-damaged spade connectors or melted insulation at the heater and at the control board heater relay.
- Repair or replace any burnt connectors and ensure tight, clean contacts.
Control board relay:
- If the heater tests good and wiring is intact, the heater relay on the main PCB may be defective.
- Visually inspect the PCB for burnt relay contacts or tracks. Replacement of the entire control module is usually required and should be done by a qualified technician.
