Possible Causes

Worn or broken drive belt, Seized drum support rollers or rear bearing, Faulty motor capacitor (on single-phase induction motors), Defective drive motor

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Disconnect mains power before removing the top or side panels.

Check drum movement:

  • Open the door and rotate the drum by hand. It should turn smoothly with moderate resistance. Grinding, stiffness or free-spinning with no resistance indicates mechanical issues.

Inspect the belt:

  • Remove the top cover. Look down at the drum perimeter to see if the belt is intact and correctly seated on the motor pulley and idler pulley.
  • If the belt is broken or heavily cracked, replace it with the correct Neff belt type and routing.

Motor and capacitor:

  • Access the motor from the rear or side. Check the motor capacitor (usually a cylindrical component near the motor) for bulging or leakage.
  • Test the capacitor with a capacitance meter; replace if out of tolerance.
  • Spin the motor pulley by hand; it should turn freely without grinding.

After replacing belt or capacitor: Reassemble partially, restore power, and briefly run a cycle to confirm the drum turns normally. If E06 persists and the drum is free, the motor windings or motor control circuit may be faulty and require professional diagnosis.
