Possible Causes
Blocked lint filter, Blocked condenser unit (on condenser models), Obstructed exhaust duct or wall vent, Failed cycling thermostat causing overheating
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect power and allow the dryer to cool fully before inspection.
- Clean lint filter: Remove the lint filter from the door opening and clean thoroughly with warm soapy water if clogged with fabric softener residue. Dry completely before refitting.
- Check condenser (if fitted): On New World condenser dryers, remove the condenser unit from the front compartment. Rinse under running water to remove lint and fluff. Allow to drain and dry before reinstalling.
- Inspect exhaust path: For vented models, disconnect the vent hose and check for lint build-up, kinks, or crushed sections. Clean the hose and wall vent thoroughly.
- Check thermostats: Access the heater housing and fan duct. Test the cycling thermostat for correct operation (closed at room temperature, opens at rated temperature). Replace if stuck closed or out of spec.
- Reset and test: Some models have a manual-reset thermal cut-out on the heater housing. Press the reset button if present. Reassemble, restore power, and run a short cycle while monitoring temperature. If E04 returns, further diagnosis of the control PCB and sensors is required.
