Possible Causes

Seized drum bearing or rear drum shaft, Foreign object jammed between drum and cabinet, Failing motor bearings, Faulty motor start capacitor

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Disconnect the dryer from the mains before inspection.

  • Check for obstructions: Look inside the drum for loose items (coins, bra wires) that may be caught in the drum baffles or felt seals. Remove any foreign objects.
  • Spin test: With power off, rotate the drum by hand. Any grinding, scraping, or stiffness indicates bearing or seal issues.
  • Inspect rear bearing: Access the rear of the drum by removing the rear panel. Check the rear drum bearing or support for wear, overheating, or lack of lubrication. Replace the rear bearing kit if worn.
  • Motor and capacitor: Inspect the motor for overheating signs and test the start capacitor with a capacitance meter. Replace the capacitor if out of spec or swollen.
  • Reassemble and test: After replacing faulty components, reassemble the dryer and run a test cycle. If E08 persists, the motor itself may need replacement.
