Possible Causes
Heating element shorted to earth, Damaged heater insulation, Pinched heater wiring touching cabinet, Moisture ingress in heater housing
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn off the circuit breaker and unplug the dryer. Verify no power is present before testing.
- Inspect heater housing: Remove the rear panel to access the heater. Look for signs of arcing, burn marks, or moisture around the heater assembly.
- Insulation test: Disconnect the heater terminals and use a megohmmeter (insulation tester) between each heater terminal and the metal chassis. Low resistance indicates earth leakage; replace the heater assembly.
- Check wiring: Inspect heater wires for damaged insulation or contact with sharp metal edges. Repair or replace any damaged wiring and secure with proper clips.
- Dry moisture: If moisture is present due to a leak or condensation, identify and fix the source, then allow the unit to dry completely before retesting.
- Reset and test: After replacing faulty parts, reassemble, restore power, and run a test cycle to confirm that E14 is cleared and the breaker no longer trips.
