Possible Causes
Broken door latch hook, Misaligned door hinge causing poor closure, Damaged door strike plate, Deformed door seal preventing full closure
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the dryer before adjusting hinges or replacing door components.
- Inspect latch hook: Examine the plastic or metal latch on the door. If cracked, bent, or missing, replace the door latch hook with a compatible New World part.
- Check hinge alignment: Look at the door alignment relative to the cabinet. If sagging, loosen the hinge screws slightly, realign the door so it closes squarely, and retighten.
- Inspect strike and seal: Ensure the cabinet strike plate is not bent and that the door seal is seated correctly and not bulging. Replace damaged seals.
- Test closure: Close the door firmly and listen for a positive click from the interlock. If the click is weak or absent, the latch or interlock may still be misaligned.
- Replace parts as needed: If mechanical parts are worn beyond adjustment, replace the door latch kit and, if necessary, the door hinge.
