Possible Causes
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the Vedette dryer from the mains before any disassembly. Do not bypass safety switches for operation.
Step-by-step checks:
- Check door closure: Ensure the door closes firmly and the latch hook engages the catch. Look for cracked plastic on the door hook or frame.
- Inspect door switch actuator: Open the door and locate the door switch button or lever. Press it by hand; it should click distinctly. If it feels loose or does not click, it may be faulty.
- Test continuity: Remove the top cover (usually 2–3 screws at the back) and access the front panel area where the door switch is mounted. Disconnect the dryer from power, remove the door switch connector, and test the switch with a multimeter. It should show continuity when pressed and open circuit when released.
- Check wiring harness: Inspect the harness from the door switch to the main control board for burnt, pinched, or broken wires and loose connectors. Reseat the connector on the PCB.
- Replace faulty parts: If the switch is defective or the latch hook is broken, replace with a compatible Vedette door switch or door lock/latch assembly. Reassemble, restore power, and test.
When to call a technician: If the door switch and wiring are good, the fault may be on the main control board; board-level diagnosis and replacement are best handled by a qualified technician.
