Possible Causes
Defective drive motor, Failed motor start capacitor, Broken or loose drive belt, Burnt motor wiring or connector
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect the dryer from the mains. Capacitors can hold charge; discharge safely or let a professional handle them.
Step-by-step checks:
- Check drum movement: With power off, open the door and try to rotate the drum by hand. It should turn smoothly with moderate resistance. If seized or very stiff, suspect motor or drum support issues.
- Inspect drive belt: Remove the top cover and rear panel (if rear access) to view the belt around the drum and motor pulley. If the belt is broken, off the pulley, or heavily frayed, replace it.
- Check motor capacitor: Locate the motor start capacitor (usually near the motor, cylindrical component). Look for bulging, leaking, or burnt smell. If damaged, replace with the exact µF rating specified for Vedette dryers.
- Test motor: Inspect the motor connector for heat damage. With a multimeter, check for open windings (infinite resistance) or short to ground. If windings are open or shorted, the motor must be replaced.
- Reassemble and test: After replacing belt, capacitor, or motor, reassemble panels, restore power, and run a short cycle to confirm the error is cleared.
Warning: Do not run the dryer with panels removed or with the belt off the drum.
