Possible Causes
Broken or slipped drive belt, Worn idler pulley, Seized drum support rollers, Obstruction between drum and cabinet
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect the appliance from mains before removing any panels.
Step-by-step checks:
- Manual drum test: Open the door and rotate the drum by hand. If it spins freely with little resistance, the belt may be broken. If it is very stiff or grinding, suspect rollers or foreign objects.
- Inspect belt: Remove the top cover and front panel to access the drum. Check if the belt is intact and correctly routed around the motor pulley and idler pulley. Replace if broken or heavily worn.
- Check idler pulley: Spin the idler pulley by hand; it should rotate smoothly without noise. Replace if noisy, seized, or wobbling.
- Inspect drum rollers or glides: On models with rear rollers, check for flat spots, excessive play, or seized bearings. Replace worn rollers in pairs. On models with front glides, inspect for heavy wear and replace if needed.
- Remove obstructions: Look for clothing, screws, or other objects trapped between the drum and front or rear bulkhead and remove them.
Reassembly: Refit the belt with correct tension, reassemble panels, and test operation.
