Possible Causes
Full condenser water tank, Blocked or kinked drain hose to tank, Faulty tank level float switch, Faulty tank level sensor wiring
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Switch off the dryer and unplug it from the mains before inspecting any internal parts. Do not bypass safety switches.
- 1. Empty the water tank: Remove the condenser water tank (usually at the top-left or bottom of the machine), empty it completely, rinse it, and reinsert it firmly until it clicks.
- 2. Check tank seating: Ensure the tank is pushed fully home. Many Zanussi dryers have a micro-switch or sensor that detects the tank position; if the tank is not seated correctly, E10 can appear.
- 3. Inspect float and level sensor: With the tank removed, look for a plastic float inside the tank. Make sure it moves freely and is not stuck with limescale or detergent residue. Clean with warm water and mild detergent.
- 4. Check drain hose (if plumbed out): If your dryer is connected to a drain instead of using the tank, inspect the thin drain hose at the rear or side. Make sure it is not kinked, blocked, or frozen. Straighten and flush it through if necessary.
- 5. Reset and test: Plug the dryer back in, power on, and try a short cycle. If E10 persists, the tank level switch or sensor wiring may be faulty and should be tested with a multimeter.
- 6. When to call a technician: If the float switch or electronic level sensor is defective, replacement requires access to internal wiring and the control board. Contact a qualified Zanussi service technician.
