Possible Causes

Partially failed heating element, Faulty NTC temperature sensor, Poor airflow due to blocked condenser, Faulty relay on control board

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Disconnect from mains and allow the dryer to cool before working near the heater or heat pump.

  • 1. Clean airflow path: Remove and clean all lint filters. If your model has a removable condenser, rinse it thoroughly. Vacuum dust from air channels and vents.
  • 2. Check load size: Overloading can cause poor drying performance. Test with a half-load on a standard program.
  • 3. Test NTC sensor: Locate the NTC on the heater housing or air duct. Disconnect and measure resistance; compare with Zanussi specifications (resistance should change with temperature). Replace if readings are out of range.
  • 4. Inspect heater: Check for signs of partial burning or hotspots on the heater coil. Test continuity; some elements have multiple circuits—one may be open.
  • 5. Control board relay: If the heater and NTC are good, the heater relay on the PCB may not be switching correctly. This typically requires PCB replacement by a technician.
