Possible Causes
Blocked lint filter or condenser, Failed or stuck heater relay, Faulty NTC sensor reading low, Restricted exhaust airflow (vented models)
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the dryer and let it cool completely. Overheating can cause burns and fire risk.
- 1. Thorough cleaning: Remove all lint filters and clean them. If fitted, remove the condenser and rinse it from back to front. Vacuum lint from the filter housing, air channels, and around the heater area.
- 2. Check installation: Ensure the dryer has adequate clearance around it and that vents are not blocked. For vented models, inspect the vent hose for kinks or heavy lint build-up and clean or replace it.
- 3. Inspect NTC sensor: A faulty sensor can misreport temperature. Test its resistance and replace if out of specification.
- 4. Thermal cut-out check: Test thermostats and thermal fuses on the heater housing. If a safety thermostat has tripped (manual reset type), reset it by pressing the small button if present. If a non-resettable fuse is open, replace it and address the cause of overheating.
- 5. Control board relay: If the heater remains on when it should be off, the heater relay on the PCB may be stuck closed. This is dangerous and requires immediate professional repair.
