Possible Causes
Blown thermal fuse on heater, Severely blocked airflow, Shorted heater to chassis, Faulty heater assembly
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect power and allow the dryer to cool. Do not bypass thermal fuses for testing.
- 1. Clean airflow system: Before replacing any parts, clean all filters, ducts, and the condenser (if fitted). Poor airflow is the main cause of overheating and fuse failure.
- 2. Access heater housing: Remove the rear panel to reach the heater assembly. Identify the thermal fuse(s) and thermostats mounted on the housing.
- 3. Test thermal fuse: Use a multimeter to check continuity across the fuse. If open, it has blown and must be replaced with the exact Zanussi-specified part.
- 4. Inspect heater: Check the heater coil for breaks or contact with the metal housing. A short to ground can cause overheating and fuse failure.
- 5. Replace faulty components: Install a new thermal fuse and, if necessary, a new heater assembly. Ensure all wiring is correctly routed and secured.
- 6. Test operation: Reassemble, plug in, and run a short cycle while monitoring for normal heating. If E63 reappears, further diagnosis of the control board and sensors is required.
