Possible Causes
Broken or slipped drive belt, Seized drum roller or bearing, Faulty drum motor, Jammed drum due to foreign object
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the dryer before removing panels or reaching into the drum area.
- 1. Check drum rotation by hand: Open the door and try to turn the drum. If it will not move or is very stiff, a foreign object or seized bearing may be the cause.
- 2. Listen for motor noise: If you previously heard the motor running without drum movement, the belt is likely broken or off the pulley.
- 3. Inspect the belt: Remove the top panel and rear panel to view the belt around the drum and motor pulley. If broken or off, replace with the correct Zanussi drive belt and ensure it is correctly tensioned.
- 4. Check rollers and idler pulley: Spin the drum support rollers and idler pulley by hand. Replace any that are noisy, stiff, or worn flat.
- 5. Remove foreign objects: If the drum is jammed, inspect the gap between the drum and front/rear panels for trapped items (e.g., bra wires). Remove carefully.
- 6. If motor is faulty: If the belt and rollers are fine but the motor does not run or hum, the motor or capacitor may be defective and should be tested and replaced by a technician.
