Possible Causes
Blocked lint filter, Blocked condenser or vent hose, Overheating motor, Faulty cooling fan (heat pump models)
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Allow the dryer to cool completely and unplug it before cleaning or inspection.
- 1. Clean lint filter and condenser: Remove all filters and the condenser (if fitted). Clean thoroughly to restore airflow.
- 2. Check vent hose (vented models): Inspect the hose for kinks, crushing, or heavy lint build-up. Clean or replace as needed.
- 3. Ensure adequate ventilation: Make sure the dryer has sufficient space around it and is not installed in a confined, unventilated cupboard without proper airflow.
- 4. Motor cooling: On some models, a thermal cut-out on the motor will trip if it overheats. Excessive lint inside the cabinet can restrict cooling. Vacuum lint from around the motor and internal ducts.
- 5. Cooling fan (heat pump): For heat pump dryers, check that the internal fan is running during operation. If not, the fan motor may be faulty and require replacement.
- 6. If problem persists: Repeated thermal trips indicate a deeper fault (e.g., failing motor or heat pump). Contact a technician.
