Possible Causes
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the smoker before inspecting the power connections.
Basic checks:
- Verify outlet voltage: Use a multimeter to confirm the wall outlet is supplying approximately 120 VAC (North America) or 220–240 VAC (other regions), as specified on the smoker's rating label. Do not use the smoker if voltage is unstable.
- Inspect power cord: Check the East Oak power cord for cuts, burns, or kinks. Ensure the plug blades are not loose or discolored. Replace the cord if damaged.
- Check internal power connections: Remove the control panel or rear access panel. Verify that the power cord leads are firmly connected to the main control board and terminal block. Tighten any loose spade connectors.
- Try a different outlet: Plug the smoker into a known-good, properly grounded outlet without an extension cord or power strip. Reset any GFCI or breaker that may have tripped.
If E4 persists: The internal low-voltage power supply on the main control board may be damaged. In that case, replace the main control board / control module. If you are not comfortable working with mains voltage, contact a qualified technician.
