Control panel displays E7 and the smoker fan does not run; temperature may be uneven or unit may shut down.
Safety Warning
This repair may involve working with high voltage components or water connections. Always unplug the appliance before removing any panels.
If you are not confident in your ability to perform this repair safely, we strongly recommend contacting a professional technician.
Possible Causes
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the smoker before touching the fan or removing panels.
Check for obstructions:
- Open the smoker door and locate the convection fan (usually on the back wall). Try to spin the fan blade gently by hand. It should rotate freely without scraping.
- If the blade is jammed by food debris, foil, or grease buildup, carefully remove the obstruction and clean the area.
Inspect motor and wiring:
- Remove the rear panel to access the fan motor. Check that the motor mounting screws are tight and the fan blade is not rubbing against the housing.
- Inspect the fan motor wiring harness and connector at the control board. Reseat the connector and look for burned or loose terminals.
- With the motor disconnected, test resistance across the motor leads. An open circuit indicates a failed motor.
Repair: Replace the convection fan motor assembly if it is seized or electrically open. If the motor tests good but E7 persists and the fan never receives voltage during operation, the main control board fan driver is likely faulty and the board should be replaced.
