Possible Causes
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the smoker before removing the control panel.
Steps:
- Dry the panel: If the smoker was recently washed or used in heavy rain, allow the control panel area to dry for several hours. Do not spray water directly on the panel in the future.
- Access the control panel: Remove the screws securing the front control bezel. Gently pull the panel forward to expose the ribbon cable or wiring harness.
- Reseat connectors: Disconnect the ribbon cable from the main control board and the touch panel (if applicable). Inspect for corrosion or bent pins. Reconnect firmly.
- Inspect for damage: Look for cracks in the touch panel, delamination, or burn marks on the small PCB. If the membrane is bubbled or cracked, it should be replaced.
Repair: If reseating the cable does not clear E8, replace the touch control panel assembly. If a new panel still shows E8, the main control board may have a communication fault and must be replaced.
