Possible Causes

Corrupted firmware on main control board, Internal microcontroller failure, Shorted component on control PCB, Electrostatic or surge damage

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Unplug the smoker before opening the control housing.

Reset attempts:

  • Unplug the smoker for at least 10 minutes to allow capacitors to discharge.
  • Plug back in and check if F1 clears. If it returns immediately, proceed to inspection.

Inspect control board:

  • Remove the control panel bezel and access the main control board.
  • Look for burned components, bulging capacitors, or signs of moisture damage.
  • Ensure all harness connectors are fully seated and not reversed.

Repair: There is typically no field repair for firmware or microcontroller faults. Replace the main control board with an East Oak-compatible replacement. If the new board also shows F1, verify that all peripheral components (sensors, fan, element) are not shorted before powering up.
