Possible Causes

Failed heating element, Open high-limit thermostat, Blown thermal fuse in element circuit, Loose or burned element wiring connector

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Unplug the smoker and allow it to cool before touching the element or wiring.

Steps:

  • Visual inspection: Open the door and inspect the heating element for cracks, breaks, or heavy corrosion.
  • Check wiring: Remove the rear panel and inspect the element terminals and wiring. Tighten any loose spade connectors and replace any burned connectors.
  • Test continuity: Disconnect one wire from the heating element and measure resistance across the terminals. If open, replace the element.
  • Check high-limit thermostat and thermal fuse: Locate these components in series with the element. Test each for continuity. Replace any that are open.

If all components test good: The heating relay on the main control board may not be switching. Replace the board after confirming that the control is calling for heat (heating indicator on display).
