Possible Causes
Blocked ventilation, Failing internal cooling fan, High contact resistance at terminal blocks, Degraded thermal paste on power module
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Burn and fire risk: If the housing is too hot to touch comfortably, stop using the charger until inspected.
- Step 1 – Improve airflow: Ensure the BougeRV charger has adequate clearance and is not enclosed in a small cabinet.
- Step 2 – Clean vents: Disconnect power and remove dust from vents with a vacuum or compressed air.
- Step 3 – Check fan operation: With the cover removed and power restored, observe the internal fan during charging. Replace the BougeRV internal cooling fan if it does not run smoothly.
- Step 4 – Tighten power connections: With power off, tighten all high-current terminals on the input and output sides. Loose connections generate heat.
- Step 5 – Thermal interface: If overheating persists, a technician may need to remove the power module, clean old thermal compound, and apply new high-quality thermal paste between the module and heatsink.
