Possible Causes
Loose ribbon cable between display board and main control board, Faulty communication interface IC on main board, Corrupted firmware, Oxidized low-voltage connectors
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Note: This fault usually does not involve high voltage, but always disconnect mains power before opening the charger.
- Step 1 – Power cycle: Turn off power for 5 minutes, then restore. Sometimes a transient communication error clears with a full reset.
- Step 2 – Reseat connectors: With power off and cover removed, locate the ribbon cable or harness between the display / user interface board and the main control board. Carefully unplug and replug the connectors to wipe oxidation.
- Step 3 – Inspect for damage: Check the ribbon cable for kinks, cuts, or pinch points. Replace if any damage is visible.
- Step 4 – Firmware update: If BougeRV provides a firmware update method (via app or USB), follow their instructions to update the charger firmware, which can resolve communication bugs.
- Step 5 – Board replacement: If E10 persists after reseating and firmware update, either the display board or main control board is defective. Replace the display board first (lower cost), then the main board if needed.
