Possible Causes
Stuck or jammed mechanical lock in J1772 handle or wall unit, Failed lock actuator motor, Broken lock position sensor, Loose lock harness connection to main board
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Warning: Do not force the connector out of the vehicle if it is mechanically locked; you may damage the inlet.
- Step 1 – Power cycle: Turn power off and back on to see if the lock resets.
- Step 2 – Listen for actuator: When connecting or disconnecting, listen for the lock motor. No sound may indicate a failed actuator or power issue.
- Step 3 – Inspect lock mechanism: With power off, open the charger housing or handle (if serviceable) and inspect the lock mechanism for debris, corrosion, or broken plastic parts.
- Step 4 – Check wiring: Verify that the lock actuator harness is firmly connected to the main control board and that wires are not pinched.
- Step 5 – Replace lock assembly: If the actuator is seized or the sensor is broken, replace the BougeRV connector lock assembly. If the new lock does not operate, the lock driver circuit on the main board may be faulty.
