Possible Causes

Tripped upstream circuit breaker, Blown internal input fuse, Loose or burned line/neutral connection in terminal block, Faulty Easee backplate power module

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: This work involves mains voltage. If you are not qualified to work on 230/400 V circuits, do not open the charger. Isolate power at the main distribution board and use a voltage tester to confirm power is off before touching any wiring.

  • 1. Check upstream protection: Locate the dedicated MCB/RCD/RCBO feeding the Easee charger. Ensure it is in the ON position. If it has tripped, reset it once. If it trips again immediately, stop and call an electrician.
  • 2. Verify supply at the charger: With power ON and using a multimeter, measure voltage at the Easee backplate supply terminals (L–N and L–PE). You should see the correct mains voltage (e.g. ~230 V single phase). If no voltage is present, the issue is in the building wiring or breaker.
  • 3. Inspect terminal block: Isolate power again. Remove the Easee front module from the backplate. Check that all line, neutral and earth conductors are firmly clamped in the backplate terminal block and show no signs of overheating or discoloration. Tighten to the manufacturer’s torque spec if loose.
  • 4. Check internal fuse (if fitted): Some installations include an inline fuse or surge device near the charger. Inspect and replace any blown fuse with the exact same rating and type.
  • 5. Test with known-good backplate/module: If supply is present at the backplate but the LED remains off, the Easee front electronics module or backplate power module may be defective. Swap with a known-good unit (if available) to confirm.
  • 6. Call a professional: If you find burned terminals, melted insulation, or repeated breaker trips, stop using the charger and contact a licensed electrician or Easee-authorized technician.
