Possible Causes
Incorrect resistor value in Type 2 cable plug, Damaged PP pin or wiring, Faulty PP sensing circuit on charger, Corroded contacts in socket
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Note: PP determines the maximum safe current for the cable.
- 1. Try another cable: Use a different Type 2 cable with a known rating. If the error disappears, the original cable's PP resistor is likely faulty.
- 2. Inspect PP pin: Check the PP pin in the socket and plug for damage or corrosion. Clean gently if needed.
- 3. Verify socket condition: Look for signs of overheating or discoloration around the PP contact in the socket.
- 4. Replace cable or socket: If the cable is at fault, replace it. If the socket contacts are damaged, replace the socket assembly.
- 5. Replace PP sensing circuit: If multiple cables fail and the socket is good, the PP sensing circuit on the main board may be defective.
