Possible Causes

Short circuit on output contactor or wiring, Welded or stuck power contactor, Incorrect wiring of phases in backplate, Internal power module failure

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Danger: Overcurrent and short circuits can cause fire or electric shock. Only qualified personnel should open the charger or work on wiring.

  • 1. Isolate power immediately: Turn OFF the dedicated breaker feeding the Easee charger. Do not attempt to reset repeatedly if it trips again.
  • 2. Inspect output wiring: Remove the front module and inspect the outgoing wiring from the backplate to the socket or tethered cable. Look for pinched conductors, exposed copper, or signs of arcing.
  • 3. Check the power contactor: Visually inspect the internal power contactor (if accessible) for burn marks or melted plastic. A welded contactor can cause abnormal current flow and must be replaced.
  • 4. Verify phase configuration: Confirm that L1, L2, L3, N and PE are correctly landed according to the Easee installation manual. Incorrect phase bridging or miswiring can cause faults when the charger attempts to energize.
  • 5. Test with continuity meter: With power off, measure resistance between line and neutral/earth on the output side. Very low resistance may indicate a short in the cable or socket.
  • 6. Replace defective module: If wiring and contactor test good, the internal power electronics module may be faulty. Replace the power module or complete front unit through an authorized service center.
