Possible Causes
High ambient temperature around charger, Blocked ventilation on enclosure, Loose or high-resistance terminal connections causing heat, Internal temperature sensor reporting high temperature
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Overheating can damage components and pose a fire risk. Do not cover the charger or operate it beyond its rated temperature.
- 1. Check ambient conditions: Ensure the charger is not installed in direct sunlight or near other heat sources. If possible, shade the unit or improve airflow.
- 2. Inspect for obstructions: Remove any objects blocking airflow around the charger. Do not enclose the unit in a small, unventilated cabinet.
- 3. Check cable and plug temperature: During charging, periodically touch (carefully) the cable and plug. If they are excessively hot, stop charging and inspect for damage or undersized conductors.
- 4. Inspect terminals (qualified only): With power isolated, remove the front module and check that all supply and load terminals are tight and show no signs of discoloration or melting. Retighten to specified torque.
- 5. Reduce charge current: In the Easee app, temporarily lower the maximum current to reduce heat generation.
- 6. Replace if persistent: If the charger continues to overheat at normal ambient temperatures, the internal temperature sensor or power module may be faulty and should be replaced.
