Possible Causes
Unstable pilot communication, Weak contactor coil voltage, Loose control wiring, Vehicle repeatedly rejecting charge
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Turn off power at the breaker before opening the charger.
- Observe LEDs/app: Note any brief error indications or status changes in the Emporia app when the clicking occurs.
- Test with another EV: If another vehicle charges normally, the original vehicle may be cycling the pilot signal and causing repeated starts.
- Check control wiring (qualified person): With power off, ensure the contactor coil wires and control board connectors are secure.
- Verify supply voltage stability: An electrician can confirm that the control voltage to the coil is not sagging when the contactor pulls in.
- If chatter persists across vehicles with solid wiring: Replace the contactor. If the issue remains, the control board’s drive circuit may be defective and require replacement.
