Possible Causes

Loose internal connections causing momentary dropouts, Overheating of cable or contactor, Unstable Wi-Fi-based control commands, Vehicle-side charging interruptions

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety: Turn off power at the breaker before opening the charger.

  • Observe pattern: Note whether interruptions coincide with high temperatures, other large loads turning on, or Wi-Fi connectivity changes.
  • Inspect cable and handle for heat: After a session stops, carefully feel (without touching metal pins) the cable and handle. Excessive warmth suggests poor connections or undersized components.
  • Check internal terminations (qualified person): With power off, tighten all terminal screws on the input block, contactor, and cable connections.
  • Disable smart features temporarily: In the Emporia app, turn off schedules, load management, and remote stop/start to rule out software interruptions.
  • Test with another EV: If only one vehicle exhibits the issue, the problem may be with that vehicle’s onboard charger.
  • If interruptions continue across vehicles and with tight connections: The contactor coil or control board may be failing intermittently and should be replaced.
