Possible Causes
Supply voltage above charger specification, Miswired service panel (incorrect tap), Utility voltage surge, Faulty voltage sensing circuit on control board
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: High line voltage can damage equipment and pose a fire risk. Turn off the breaker before any panel work.
- Measure line voltage: A qualified electrician should measure the voltage at the charger input with a multimeter. For typical Emporia Level 2 chargers, line-to-line voltage should be around 240V (±10%).
- Check for miswiring: Confirm that the charger is connected to the correct breaker type and that no high-voltage industrial tap has been used by mistake.
- Monitor utility voltage: If voltage is intermittently high, contact your utility provider. Do not bypass the charger’s protection.
- Power cycle: After confirming normal voltage, restore power and see if E06 clears.
- If voltage is normal but E06 remains: The internal voltage sensing circuit on the control board may be defective. Board replacement is required and should be performed by a professional.
