Charging session will not start; vehicle shows ‘charging fault’ and Hager EV charger front LED turns solid red with E01 on the display or in the app.

Safety first: Turn off the charger’s upstream circuit breaker and any local isolator before touching the socket or wiring. Never work on live circuits.

Steps to try:

• Power-cycle the charger: Switch OFF the dedicated EV charger breaker for 30 seconds, then switch it back ON. Wait for the charger to boot and check if E01 clears.
• Inspect the Type 2 plug and socket: Disconnect the cable from both the car and the Hager charger. Check the Type 2 plug and the charger’s Type 2 socket for bent, recessed, or burnt pins and for dirt, insects, or corrosion. Clean gently with a dry, non‑metallic brush. Do not use liquids.
• Try another cable: If you have a second Type 2 cable, test with it. If E01 disappears, the original cable is likely defective and should be replaced.
• Check cable locking: On socketed Hager wallboxes, ensure the plug is fully inserted until the mechanical latch engages. A partially inserted plug can cause CP/PP errors.
• If the fault persists: The CP/PP detection circuit on the main control board or the Type 2 socket module may be defective. Do not open the unit unless you are a qualified electrician. Contact a Hager‑authorised technician for board and wiring tests.
