Charger refuses to start charging; display or app shows E02 and the LED flashes red/amber. Vehicle may report ‘ground fault’ or ‘earth fault’.

Safety first: Do not repeatedly reset an earth fault without investigation. There is a risk of electric shock. If you suspect an insulation fault, stop using the charger and vehicle until checked.

Steps to try:

• Disconnect the vehicle: Unplug the Type 2 connector from the car and the charger.
• Reset upstream protection: Check the dedicated Hager RCBO/RCD and MCB in your consumer unit. If tripped, reset once. If it trips again immediately, stop and call an electrician.
• Test with another vehicle or cable: If possible, try charging a different EV or use a different cable. If E02 only appears with one vehicle or cable, that item may have an insulation fault.
• Check earthing: Have a qualified electrician verify that the charger’s earth connection, earth bar, and bonding are correctly installed and that the supply meets Hager’s earthing requirements (TN/TT/TN‑C‑S as applicable).
• If E02 remains with all vehicles/cables: The internal RDC‑DD or RCD module may be faulty. A technician should open the charger, perform insulation resistance tests, and replace the leakage detection module or main control board as required.
