Possible Causes

Supply voltage below specification due to grid issues, Excessive voltage drop on long cable run to charger, Loose terminals in upstream distribution board, Faulty voltage measurement on main PCB

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Persistent undervoltage can cause overheating and unreliable operation. Do not attempt to bypass protections.

Steps to try:

  • Check other loads: If lights dim significantly when large appliances run, your supply may be weak. Contact your utility provider.
  • Inspect cable run (electrician only): Have a qualified electrician verify cable size, length, and terminations from the consumer unit to the Hager charger. Excessive voltage drop may require a larger cable.
  • Power-cycle the charger: Turn OFF the EV charger breaker for 30 seconds, then ON. Try again at a lower charging current if your charger or vehicle allows current limiting.
  • Measure voltage: An electrician should measure voltage at the charger terminals during a charging attempt. If voltage is within spec but E05 persists, the internal sensing circuit may be defective.
  • Replace faulty electronics: If confirmed, the main control board or power supply module inside the charger should be replaced by a Hager‑authorised technician.
