Possible Causes

Broken or disconnected earth conductor to charger, High resistance earth connection, Faulty PE monitoring circuit on main PCB, Incorrect earthing system configuration in charger settings

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: A missing or faulty earth is extremely dangerous. Do not use the charger until the earth connection is verified and the fault is cleared.

Steps to try:

  • Visually inspect earth cable (external only): Check that the green/yellow earth conductor to the charger is not visibly damaged or disconnected at the outside of the enclosure.
  • Check upstream earth (electrician only): A qualified electrician should verify continuity from the charger earth terminal back to the main earth bar and measure earth loop impedance.
  • Confirm earthing system: Ensure the charger is configured for the correct earthing arrangement (TN‑S, TN‑C‑S, TT) as per Hager installation manual and local regulations.
  • Power-cycle after correction: Once any earth wiring issues are corrected, turn OFF and ON the charger’s breaker and test again.
  • If E08 persists with good earth: The internal PE monitoring circuit or main control board may be defective and must be replaced by a Hager‑authorised technician.
