Possible Causes
Damaged control pilot (CP) conductor in cable, Faulty PLC communication module in charger (for smart chargers), Vehicle communication fault, Corroded or dirty Type 2 pins affecting signal quality
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Always disconnect power at the breaker before opening any covers. Do not insert metal objects into the socket.
Steps to try:
- Unplug and reconnect: Disconnect the cable from both the charger and the vehicle. Wait 30 seconds, then reconnect firmly until fully latched.
- Inspect connectors: Check the Type 2 plug and socket for dirt, corrosion, or damage. Clean gently with a dry brush.
- Try another vehicle or cable: If E11 only occurs with one vehicle or one cable, that item is likely at fault.
- Check firmware and app: Ensure the charger’s firmware and mobile app are up to date, as some communication issues are resolved by updates.
- If persistent with multiple vehicles: The internal PLC/PWM communication module or main control board may be defective. A technician should test CP signal levels and replace the communication module or board as needed.
