Possible Causes
Faulty external load management controller (e.g. Hager energy manager), Broken control wiring between charger and controller, Incorrect configuration of load management mode, Shorted or open digital input terminals
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Control wiring may carry low voltage but is in proximity to mains. Only qualified electricians should modify wiring.
Steps to try:
- Check configuration: In the installer interface or app, verify that load management is configured correctly (single charger vs. group, master/slave roles, etc.).
- Temporarily disable load management (if allowed): If the system permits, disable external load control to see if the charger operates normally without it. Do this only if it does not violate installation design.
- Inspect external controller: Ensure the Hager energy manager or external controller is powered and not showing its own error codes.
- Check control wiring (electrician only): Verify continuity and correct polarity of control wires between the charger and controller. Repair any damaged cables.
- If E16 persists: The charger’s control input circuitry or communication interface may be faulty and require board replacement.
