Possible Causes
Stuck fan control transistor on main board, Faulty temperature sensor reading high, Fan wired directly to supply due to previous repair, Firmware bug in fan control
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Isolate mains before opening the charger.
- 1. Check temperature:
- Ensure the charger is not actually overheating (feel housing, check ambient temperature).
- 2. Inspect fan wiring:
- Open the housing and trace the fan wiring from the fan to the main board.
- Confirm it is connected to the correct fan header, not directly to mains or 12 V.
- 3. Check temperature sensor:
- Locate the NTC sensor on the heatsink and ensure it is firmly attached.
- 4. Firmware update:
- Update firmware if a known issue exists with fan control.
- 5. Replace faulty parts:
- If the fan remains at full speed due to a stuck driver, replace the main control board or fan control section.
