Safety first: Surge‑damaged components can be hazardous. Disconnect the charger from mains and do not attempt to operate until inspected.

• 1. Inspect upstream protection:
  • Check the main distribution board for tripped surge protection devices or breakers.
  • Reset only once after verifying there is no visible damage or burning smell at the charger.
• 2. Open charger and inspect SPD/MOV:
  • With power off, remove the front cover.
  • Locate the surge protection module or MOV block on the input side.
  • Look for cracking, charring, or bulging components.
• 3. Check auxiliary power supply:
  • Verify that the low‑voltage power supply LED (if present on the main board) is lit when mains is applied.
  • If no low‑voltage power is present, the auxiliary supply on the main control board may be damaged.
• 4. Replace damaged SPD/MOV:
  • If the surge protection module is visibly damaged, replace it with the exact Heidelberg‑specified part.
  • Inspect nearby tracks and components for collateral damage.
• 5. If main board is damaged:
  • Replace the main control board as a complete assembly.
  • After replacement, perform all commissioning tests per Heidelberg instructions.
