Possible Causes

Marginal contact on Type 2 pilot pin, Slightly bent or recessed pin in vehicle inlet, Loose CP terminal inside wallbox, Electrical noise or interference on pilot line

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety warning: Do not bend pins with metal tools. Isolate power before opening the charger.

  • 1. Reconnect carefully: Unplug and firmly reinsert the Type 2 connector into the vehicle until fully latched. Try starting charging again.
  • 2. Inspect pins: Check the plug pins for dirt, oxidation, or slight misalignment. Clean gently with a dry, soft brush.
  • 3. Wiggle test: While the plug is inserted (and vehicle in Park), gently move the cable near the plug. If charging starts/stops with movement, the cable or plug is likely faulty.
  • 4. Check CP terminal: With power OFF, open the charger and verify the CP conductor is firmly clamped in the output terminal block or connector.
  • 5. Test another cable/vehicle: If possible, try a different cable or EV to isolate whether the issue is charger, cable, or vehicle.
  • 6. Replace suspect component: If the problem follows the cable, replace the Land Rover-branded Type 2 cable. If it follows the charger, have the control board and CP wiring inspected by a technician.
