Possible Causes

Damaged Type 2 charge cable between charger and Land Rover vehicle, Bent or contaminated pilot pin in Type 2 vehicle connector, Fault in internal control pilot (CP) circuit on Land Rover wallbox control board, Loose connection on CP terminal inside charger

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Turn off the charger at the dedicated EV charger breaker before opening any covers. Do not work on live circuits.

  • 1. Power-cycle the system: Turn the charger off at the breaker for 2–3 minutes, then turn it back on. Reconnect the vehicle and check if E01 clears.
  • 2. Inspect the Type 2 connector: Unplug from the vehicle. Examine the pilot pin (usually the small pin labeled CP) for bending, corrosion, or dirt. Clean gently with a soft, dry brush; do not use metal tools or liquids.
  • 3. Check cable condition: Run your hand along the Land Rover-branded Type 2 cable from the wallbox to the plug. Look for cuts, kinks, or crushed sections. If any damage is visible, discontinue use and replace the cable.
  • 4. Verify CP wiring inside charger (advanced): With power OFF and cover removed, locate the control pilot (CP) terminal on the Land Rover charger control board. Confirm the CP conductor from the output cable is firmly clamped and not broken. Tighten terminal screws to manufacturer torque if loose.
  • 5. Test with another EV or cable: If possible, test the charger with a different Type 2 cable or another compatible vehicle. If E01 only appears with one cable or one vehicle, the issue is likely with that component.
  • 6. If E01 persists: Do not bypass or jumper the pilot circuit. Contact a qualified EV charger technician or Land Rover support for control board diagnostics and possible replacement.
