Possible Causes
Leakage current detected by internal RCD/RCM module, Moisture ingress in Type 2 connector or vehicle inlet, Damaged insulation in output cable from Land Rover wallbox, Faulty internal residual current monitor on control board
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety warning: A ground fault can be dangerous. Do not repeatedly reset the charger without inspection. Turn off power at the breaker before opening the unit.
- 1. Inspect for moisture: Check the Type 2 plug and vehicle inlet for water, condensation, or road salt. Dry thoroughly with a clean, lint-free cloth. Allow components to air dry for at least 30 minutes before retrying.
- 2. Check cable and plug: Look for cuts, abrasions, or crushed sections on the Land Rover charger cable. If any copper is visible or the jacket is deeply damaged, stop using the charger and replace the cable.
- 3. Reset external RCD/RCBO: At the main consumer unit or sub-panel, reset the dedicated EV charger RCD/RCBO if it has tripped. If it trips again immediately, there is likely a persistent fault.
- 4. Inspect inside wallbox (advanced): With power OFF, open the Land Rover charger enclosure. Look for signs of water ingress, corrosion, or burn marks around the RCD/RCM module and output terminals. Tighten any loose terminals and clean light corrosion with a dry brush.
- 5. Test with another vehicle: If possible, connect a different EV to rule out a vehicle-side insulation fault.
- 6. If E03 persists: The internal residual current monitor or cable insulation may be compromised. Do not bypass safety devices. Arrange for professional service to test insulation resistance and replace the RCD/RCM module or cable as needed.
